The Army Navy Screen Magazine No. 2, Navy Edition. (AKA "The War No. 2) 1945
"By the end of the war, the Army-Navy Screen Magazine reached an enormous weekly audience of 4.2 million. It had become for American soldiers all over the world a communal experience that greatly influenced their perception of the war."
It featured short documentary films, news from back home, and short training films like Dr. Seuss' Private Snafu cartoons. I've uploaded the entire Screen Magazine and also each segment as a separate file (some editions are comprised of 1 long film, though).
Description at the National Archives: " Reel 1, Part 1, Leo Durocher directs the Brooklyn Dodgers in spring training. Part 2 shows displaced persons in Germany: they gather in a field, are interviewed by American military government personnel, take medical examinations, and eat in a refugee center. Part 3, allied troops parade in German cities following World War I. Reel 2, Part 1 shows babies and wives of U.S. servicemen who are overseas. Part 2 describes flood and erosion problems; shows construction of the Boulder Dam and brief scenes of Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and other dams. Part 3, Carol Landis [SIC] models various costumes and sings."
As always, any error or typo is mine and if you enjoy my uploads or if you intend to make $ or otherwise profit from these files, please consider making a donation to a veteran's charity of your choice and/or Archive.org itself. Thanks. :)
